Health and safety at Diresco:

from manufacturing to the end customer

It’s in our serving surfaces motto: people are essential to the product and the product is essential to people. And that’s why Diresco is dedicated to health and safety during mineral composite production and processing. That starts with a full understanding of the potential risks associated with the raw materials and how to minimise them.

For end customers and dealers

For processors

No risk to end customers and dealers

Our finished mineral composite products pose no health risk to dealers or end users.

Internationally certified products
Diresco products are certified by independent international organisations and therefore meet the strictest safety and health standards.
Zero impact on daily life
It is scientifically proven that the silica content in our finished products has no impact whatsoever on indoor air quality and food safety.
Precautionary guidelines for the DIY crowd
Short exposure time makes adverse health effects unlikely for renovators and DIY builders. Even still, we recommend using the proper protective equipment. Visit www.diywithoutdust.eu for helpful tips.

Strict processing protocols for processors

Long-term, sustained cutting, sanding, polishing and drilling of silica-containing products entails more pronounced risks. To counter those risks we invest generously in prevention and developing Low Silica products for the sake of Diresco’s production staff and customers involved in processing.

Compliant with European safety standards
There have been no recorded cases of grinder’s asthma or silicosis since our inception in 2003. That is verifiably attributable to minimal dust formation during our production processes. Diresco employees are also subject to annual medical check-ups.
Safety instructions in eight languages
Diresco clients engaged in processing, mainly stonemasons, are sent comprehensive safety instructions with our products.
Responsible treatment
We stress the importance of machining with water supply and/or integrated dust extraction, sufficient ventilation, personal respiratory protection with proper particle filters, etc. to minimise risks.

What is crystalline silica?

Around 12% of the Earth’s crust is composed of the crystalline silica mineral. In its solid state, the mineral is completely harmless. As a dust, however, it can cause respiratory harm and prolonged exposure can lead to severe occupational illness.

Low Silica is the way forward
Diresco heavily invests in developing products with minimal silica content. These products proudly bear our Low Silica label. The label is part of our broader sustainability strategy to safeguard the safety of our employees and customers.

These certificates prove our dedication.

At Diresco, we leave absolutely nothing to chance when it comes to health and safety; that goes for our employees and your colleagues and customers. Here and now and down the road.
