Diresco, made in Belgium and part of their rich assortment since 2003. Nathan Delmulle, third generation within the company, explains why our collaboration is more relevant today than ever.

From family business to family business

“BMB was originally founded in 1983 as a wholesaler and sawmill in natural stone. Today, we are an established name with customers throughout the Benelux and Northern France. We transport 100 to 150 tons of slabs daily to stonemasons. They trust us to provide them with the highest quality materials on time. We take that relationship to heart.”

Anyone who steps into their warehouse in Wortegem-Petegem, East Flanders, immediately gets the chance to discover their impressive showroom filled with large slabs of natural stone, ceramics, and composite.

One of the constants in BMB’s range? Diresco. “We directly purchase large quantities of their composite slabs to keep our stock up to date. This collaboration dates back to the early 2000s. When composite was on the rise, they were the first to be there. A product of Belgian manufacture, always quickly available and with designs that respond to market trends: that’s what we wanted to invest in.”

According to Nathan Delmulle, the Belgian quality label is more important than ever. “Especially since 2020, it has not been easy to get materials from all corners of the world here smoothly. With Diresco, we work locally, quickly, and reliably. Everything that comes from their production, we keep permanently in stock. No waiting times, no surprises. That is reassuring for the stonemason and the end customer.”

Moreover, the end customer increasingly finds their way to the BMB showroom. “Young couples building their first home, architects with their clients, project developers, … We notice that people are consciously looking for material choices that are beautiful and easy to maintain. For stonemasons, easy processing is paramount. On all these points, Diresco scores highly. Take marble, for example: beautiful but fragile. The Carrara look of Diresco offers the same visual effect, but there is no longer any fear of stubborn stains.”

Travertino Romano as the publics favorite

The collaboration is also beautifully synchronized in terms of trends. “Diresco genuinely takes our input into account. Like with the launch of their Sublime Taj Mahal design, their composite variant of the prestigious natural stone. That they listened to our voice during their R&D process makes us stand even more behind the end result.”

“We continue to monitor these trends together. For example, the mortex look is extremely popular among architects and is increasingly reflected in natural stone designs. So why not in composite form? We are certainly eager to think along.”

The absolute favorite among BMB customers at the moment? “That is the Sublime Travertino Romano in Anticato finish. A natural look, easy to maintain – exactly what the current market demands. As far as we are concerned, the entire Sublime collection is a hit. After the Belgian collection, with the Belgian Blue as the big game changer for blue stone fans, this could be the next major milestone in Diresco’s future.”
